Everyday Multitasking: Age changes and strategies for maintenance

Typical aging is associated with known changes to cognitive, sensory, and motor domains of functioning, yet much of the research on age-related declines focuses on a single domain. Everyday activities such as enjoying coffee with friends invite the consideration of these multidomain interactions, and the study of multitasking from an ecological approach. This presentation will cover: Experimental approaches to the study of aging and multitasking Cognitive enrichment methods to help older adults improve multitasking The work includes samples of healthy younger and older adults, elders with hearing loss, and elders with memory complaints and Mild Cognitive Impairment.
